Do you feel like you’re not able to make a difference? Not clever enough… brave enough… knowledgeable enough… not… well, you fill in the gap!
Do you hold back in conversations, because you think your point of view isn’t important enough, or might be viewed as a bit daft?
All too often we sit back and do nothing because we simply don’t think we have enough to offer to make significant impact. We hold back on our thoughts and ideas because they don’t seem big enough to create worthwhile change.
But what we forget, is that every major company in this world started with an idea. Every building started with an idea too; a vision, if you like.
Big businesses start from humble beginnings. Amazon started in Jeff Bezos’ garage.
Skyscrapers start when someone starts digging out the foundations.
Christianity was spread by the apostles. A small group of men who talked to others about their beliefs.
Sometimes we think too far ahead and only look at the final goal, and we can’t see how to get there.
But, instead, we need to just take the first step. Maybe talk to one person. Maybe do one simple task. And create a ripple. Get things started. And then see what happens. See who joins us.
Where are you holding back in your life?
What can you do today to create a ripple?
“Throw your grain into the sea, and after many days you may get a return.” – Ecclesiastes 11:1 (NLT)
Do something today, and something magical might happen. It may happen today… tomorrow… in a few weeks… in a few months… next year even.
Maybe you taking action will encourage someone else to take action.
And their action may encourage someone else to step forward.
That’s the ripple effect.
One thing’s for sure though, do nothing and nothing will change.
So, go on, throw your grain into the sea!

Abba Father, give me the courage to take the first step. Help me to create some ripples. To enable others to take their first steps. To make a difference in the lives of others. Lord, guide me and be with me on my journey, as I learn to take actions instead of sitting back. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
